Early Parent and Infant Consultants is a group of skilled professionals who offer early parenting education and support to families with children from birth to 3 years of age.
We offer:
* A home visiting service
* Parents' Education Sessions
* Professionals' Education Sessions
* The book 'Safe Sleep Space'.
To ensure the quality of service we provide, Early Parent and Infant Consultants is required to hold current registration with its authorised regulating bodies. It's also required to undertake additional specialist training in current approaches to early parenting, including infant and parent mental health and wellbeing.
Our home visiting service allows the Early Parent and Infant Consultant home visitors to provide realistic assessment and interventions for families in the comfort and convenience of their own homes. Our home visitors specialise in settling strategies to promote infant and parental sleep. We also offer support to families struggling with:
• Feeding issues
• Parental anxiety
• Postnatal depression
• Enhancing infant-parent relationships
• Unsettled infants
• Toddler behaviours
• Adjusting to parenthood
• Family dynamics
• Understanding infants & their communication
• Helping regain balance & perspective within family life.
The field of infant wellbeing and mental health is attracting a surge of interest and support internationally as we learn more and more about infants and brain development.
The majority of Early Parent and Infant Consultants are trained maternal and child health nurses, early childhood specialists or family therapists. All home visitors are required to undertake additional training prior to and throughout employment with Early Parent and Infant Consultants in order to reach and maintain our clinical practice standards.
Early Parent and Infant Consultants service is coordinated and monitored by a manager with experience and expertise in both early parenting and management. Helen Stevens, the author of Safe Sleep Space, has been coordinating this service since its inception in 2004.
Early Parent and Infant Consultants has developed recognition in this field through its interventions and outcomes from their home visiting service as well as its successful, ongoing education programs.
